The project involved the complete demolition and redevelopment of this 25,000 square foot corner plot, whilst retaining the street façade and the ground floor retail units. We were briefed to administer Party Wall and neighbourly matters including crane oversail licences.
The contractors intended to demolish above and behind ground floor retail units so it was essential that a completely watertight crash deck and roof, together with drainage, be detailed and constructed before demolition commenced.
One of the neighbouring owners was an Embassy, which shared the party wall, and we had to agree party wall awards for piling and a tower structure to support the party wall before demolition commenced.
With residential owner occupiers, an embassy and boutique retail owners, neighbourly liaison was crucial and each stage of the development had to be carefully thought out, presented and negotiated in order to maintain the programme.
