At GIA we believe that creative spirit and excellence offer the greatest potential. Expanding personal limits is essential to realising talent and preventing stagnancy and habitual practice.
Working together to help each individual grow lies at the heart of our ethos, motivating staff to achieve both personal and business goals even if this means we have to accommodate a change of role to support their on-going development. We see regular training as an investment in the future of the person and central to maintaining the standard of advice to clients. Each staff member, therefore, has a personal development and training plan which is regularly reviewed and enhanced. We also actively encourage contribution of ideas to the company's development from everyone, regardless of their role.
Training begins on day one at GIA. Each new member of staff is taken through initial induction training to learn about the basics of life in our office, where to find things and who can help you with what. Someone from within the department they join will then act as mentor to help with the more technical or skills-based aspects of the role.
There are a wide range of specialist areas within GIA so all staff receive on-the-job training to learn first-hand how to become specialists themselves. Twice a month we also hold in-house CPD seminars and group workshops which all staff are encouraged to attend in order to broaden their understanding of the business. The speaker may be a staff member sharing their knowledge with others or an external person presenting on a topic which we believe will be of interest as well beneficial. We also encourage staff to attend external courses which they or we view as beneficial to their role. This includes part-time degrees or Masters supported by the company.
GIA is registered with RICS to enable Surveyors to receive the necessary training, guidance and counselling to complete their APC programme. As well as the experience gained working in the Building Consultancy, Party Wall and Rights of Light departments, we also have two experienced outside consultants who advise, monitor progress and run practice interviews and presentations for all our candidates to ensure they achieve their full potential.
