Having fun

At GIA we do all we can to provide an environment where people feel genuinely happy to come to work. Contented staff enjoy their roles, support their colleagues and strive to provide the very best for clients.

We have a strong and focused work ethic but people work hard because they are inspired by what they do and have a genuine desire to achieve excellence, not because they have a manager looking over their shoulder. We believe firmly in the balance between work and play and this is typified by a beautiful breakout space. Here staff can relax at lunch or after work using the well-equipped kitchen, playing pool, table football and computer games or firing up the jukebox.

Official events

We appreciate, recognise and reward everybody's hard work and commitment at GIA. Each year we organise social events for the whole company to come together and enjoy themselves. At Christmas we stay overnight at a fabulous hotel outside London - after a morning of outdoor team activities and an afternoon free to use the hotel's facilities, we meet for a black tie dinner and dancing. Summer 2007 brought two new events - a Family Fun Day to which friends and family were welcomed, and a company outing to an outdoor art fair in Oxfordshire. These are all wonderful opportunities to try new things, explore hidden talents and laugh! In the intervening months, departments are encouraged to organise team outings such as bowling, ice skating, go-karting and cookery lessons.

Sports

GIA encourages and funds lots of sports activities. We have two five-aside football teams - the GIAnts are a well-established side playing successfully in the Southwark Premiership and the other, newly formed, GI-A Team has made its debut in the Waterloo Conference. Not to be outshone, the girls' netball team GIAnets plays weekly in a league, and a squash competition in soon to be launched. In-house we hold lots of friendly competitions, from pool and computer games to a Fantasy Football league.

Charity work

Giving back is as important as receiving and without trying to appear as angels we encourage all our staff to appreciate this. Our social programme is tied closely to our charity work, with all staff encouraged to participate in fundraising for our nominated charities whilst having fun together.
